Reminders:

  • Soft Entry begins at 7:50 am.  Students should arrive at or shortly after 7:50. We would like all students to try to be inside the school by 7:55, please. The 7:58 bell means ‘start learning in your classroom’, not ‘enter the school now’.

Here are some notable activities from the week:
  • During writing, we were learning how to create a complete sentence.  We learned that a sentence needs 4 main things; Capital Letter at the beginning, a complete idea, finger spaces between each word and punctuation.  Here is a video we watched to help us remember these 4 things. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh7hCqyfaPs
  • In Math we were working on sorting shapes by one or two attributes.  Here are some examples of their work.

This next week will do a little more work on sorting and then move into patterns.

  • In Science, we will continue learning about our 5 senses and how they help us become good observers.
  • In Social Studies, we have been learning about different communities.  Today we learned that communities have rules and created rules for our classroom.  This next week we will look at how these rules relate to the 3 pillars (Respect for our self, Respect for others and Respect for this place), and what that looks like in our classroom and in the world around us.

  • This week read a book called Sky Colour by Peter H. Reynolds.  We learned that we don't always have to make our sky blue when we paint or colour.  Here is some of their art inspired by this book.

Ask Me About
  • What 4 things do I need to create a complete sentence?
  • Practicing sorting my toys and describing the sorting rule.
