"oi" 'oi'  that we do not use at the end of English words as in noise.

"oo". 'oo, oo, ō' as in moon, book, and floor

"ch" "ch, k, sh" as in child, school and chef

"ng" 'ng" as in bring

"ea" 'e, ē, ā' as in meat, head and break

Please check Google Classroom for weekly grapheme practice and word work.  Google Classroom

In writing this week we finished writing our scripts and did an independent writing sample that we put on IRIS. We read a book called, "Sometimes I feel Like a Fox," by a Metis author named Danielle Daniel.  Students followed her pattern and with animals that they chose.  Here are a few samples.

In Social Studies, we have been working on making our Stop Motion videos with our groups.  We have learned that it is important to work cooperatively with our group members and to work quietly so other groups can record their voice overs.

In Math we have explored patterns in numbers, especially when we are skip counting and not starting at 1, 5, or 10.  We also looked at increasing and decreasing patterns and being able to describe the pattern rule.  Here are a few samples of their work.

In Science this week we learned that architects draw blueprints before a building is made.  We made our blueprints for Fort Calgary and the Bow and Elbow Rivers. Next week will begin building our models of these different places in Calgary.

  • How is my Stop Motion video going?
  • Practice skip counting by 5 or 10 starting from different numbers. What patterns do I see?
