It was nice to see everyone for our week of online learning. We had fun learning in a different way. I look forward to seeing everyone's faces in person on Tuesday.
In ELA this week we wrote about our favourite or least favourite things about winter, the break and how we feel about coming back to school. Students also had the chance to create the words for some picture books that have no words. We also learned more graphemes this week. "ph" "dge", "oe", "tch" and "ti". make sure to ask me what sounds these graphemes make! If you need a reminder or want to practice, check out the video in our Google Classroom.
In Math this week, we were practicing our addition and subtraction skills. We also used these skills to solve open-ended math problems. Open-ended problems are problems that have more than one solution and can be approached in different ways.
In Science this week, we completed various building challenges. We learned that we need a strong base to build on. We also learned that some materials are stronger than others. Check out some of the kids structures from this week.
- Where do I hear these different sounds: "ph" "dge," "oe" "tch" and "ti" Hint- think of the words . Can you think of any others?
- Take some time to practice reading and math on Raz Kids, and Prodigy.
