Thursday, October 15th Update

Here are a few reminders.
  • Thank you to all those who have helped their child learn about their name.  We look forward to sharing them with the class.  Name Interview homework is due tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 16th)
  • Please dress for the weather.  We go outside at least 3 times everyday for recess, lunch recess, and gym.
  • Also please remember to send your child with indoor shoes as the weather is beginning to change and we want to help keep our floors clean and dry.
  • Your child brought home a library book this week. We will exchange library books every Wednesday.

Today we learned that good readers make predictions while they are reading.  We read Franklin and the Thunderstorm, but stopped part way through and wrote our predictions about what we thought might happen next.  We also talked about using the word "because" in your answer to help explain your thinking. Ask your child what they thought might happen.  Franklin and the Thunderstorm

This book also tied in nicely to our lesson in Health today as we were learning about our virtue of the month, courage.  We watched a video called, "Sheila Rae, the Brave" by Kevin Henkes. Then we talked about times we were brave or what we wanted to do to show courage.   There was a lot of talk and drawings from the children about being courageous by climbing trees or higher on the playground equipment.
