Remember to dress for the weather.  We go outside every day for recess, lunch recess and gym.


This week in ELA we will be focusing on adding descriptive details to our writing by using our five senses.  We are also working on our editing goal of "Find it & FIx it." Students have to check their work for capitals and punctuation in the right places.  They also have to check for spelling of their "No Excuse" sight words. Later this week we will post in IRIS a sample of their work with their editing checklist.

Here are the words for this week that students should be able to read and write. Students are practicing using their words in a sentence as well.

Red Group:  love, do, saw, you, away

Blue Group: table, apple, one, were, are

Purple Group: slow, know, eat, treat wheat

 It's finally June.  In a few weeks, we will have a 2 month vacation! We have had a busy week this week. In ELA we have been working on writing about, "What would I do if I could stay up all night?" We practiced adding lots of details to our sentences.  Students have continues to practice doing our "Find it & Fix it" strategy for editing.   In Math we have reviewing measuring, specifically mass and calendar.  Students have engaged in centres and problem solving tasks about calendar and mass.  For our inquiry project we have been finishing our comic strip about the animal and its community. Students included how we can learn from the animals and care for the land. We shared how we can help the animals so that they can be around for a long time.  We also watch a series of videos about the Seven Sacred Laws. Dear  Grade 1 & 2 Families,   Welcome to the 2020-2021 Cambrian Heights School Community! We are looking forward to seeing you on September 1 for the first day of school!     My name is   Mrs. Andrews   and I am one of the teachers on your child’s teaching team.    Reminders: September 24th and 25th are Parent Teacher Conferences .  They will be virtual conferences.  Please follow the link sent to you from the office to sign up.  Sign up closes on Monday the 21st at noon.  If you need help, please contact the office or myself (hlandrews@cbe.ab.ca) and we can help you book a conference.  October 1st is our first Spirit Day.  The students have chosen Pajama Day.  Students may wear a clean pair of pjs, but we ask that stuffies and toys stay at home. Here are some notable activities from the week: During Language Arts, we are reviewing the graphemes (letters with their sounds).  This is a good review for all students as they it helps them be more aware of letter sounds when they are reading and writing.  This week we reviewed the letters; a, c, d, f, and g.  Along with reviewing the letter names and sounds, we are also learning/reviewing how to print the letters properly so that their printing becomes more efficient.  Remember, we always start pr
