Feb. 11-13:  Teachers' Convention ~ NO SCHOOL

Feb. 16th:  Family Day ~ NO SCHOOL

Remember to dress for the weather.  We go outside every day for recess, lunch recess and gym.

This deadline for bringing a classroom valentine has been extended until Monday, February 8th.  If your child would still like to make one for the class they are more than welcome to bring it in on Monday.  On Wednesday they will have the chance to read their card to the class and we will put them on display for the month.

This week in ELA we finished writing our good copies of our personal stories. Students visited the Publisher's Corner, a bulletin board in the main hallway, where students work can be put on display for the whole school to see. They were really excited and worked hard so that they might have the chance to have their work on display. 1-2 students will have the opportunity to have their work on the wall this month, and we will continue to provide opportunities for them to have other work displayed on the wall.

This week in Math we reviewed different strategies that we can use to help us add or subtract more than 2 numbers. We practiced finding numbers that made 10, finding doubles, and near doubles. Then we applied these strategies to various math problems.

In Science we began looking at vocabulary words we would be using while learning about changes in winter and also liquids.  The children did a matching game where they had to match a picture to the word.  You can find in on my Google Classroom in the February Work section.

In Social Studies we are learning about the word, "perspective."  To introduce this concept we read the, "Three Little Pigs," and "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs." These stories helped them understand that every story has more than one side to it. We were able to make a Venn diagram to compare what parts of the stories were the same and which were different.  Here are the links to the stories we read if you would like to review them at home.
