Mar. 26th: Last day of classes before Spring Break

Mar. 29th -Apr. 5th Spring Break NO SCHOOL

Apr. 6th Classes Resume

This week in ELA we were learning about acrostic poems.  The children were very creative with their writing.  Here are some samples of their work.

This week in math we were continuing our learning about measurement with a focus on calendar. We reviewed the days of the week and the months of the year.  Then we practiced solving problems that included the calendar.

On Wednesday, we had our spirit day "Learning Through the Arts."

We combined drama and literacy by reading the beginning of a "Dogman" readers' theatre script, and the students had to write the ending.  Then they had to perform it for the class using voices that represented their character of Grampa or Big Jim.

We combined math with art.  Students looked at some samples of Paul Klee's work and then created their own picture using triangles to make different pictures.

Our last task of the day was to create a composition to the poem Dr. Foster. Students played different instruments to the rhythm of the poem and then chose specific instruments to play for certain words or phrases.

  • Ask Me About
  • Name the days of the week and months of the year in order.
  • What was my favourite part of spirit day.
  • Explain which Canadian community used the land and it resources best and why.
