  Reminders: October 9th:  is a PD Day NO SCHOOL October 12th: Thanksgiving NO SCHOOL October 14th:  Picture Day! Here are some notable activities from the week: During Language Arts, we are reviewing the graphemes (letters with their sounds).  This is a good review for all students as they it helps them be more aware of letter sounds when they are reading and writing.  This week we reviewed the letters; e, h, i, j and k.  Along with reviewing the letter names and sounds, we are also learning/reviewing how to print the letters properly so that their printing becomes more efficient.  Remember, we always start printing a letter from the top. Here are a few fun videos we watched to review letters sounds and printing.  Please review these letters and sounds if your child is still learning their letters and sounds.   Reminders Feb. 24th:  Pink Shirt Day & STEAM Challenge Day Mar. 11th:  Evening Parent Teacher Interviews Mar. 12:  Daytime Parent-Teacher Interviews. NO SCHOOL Mar. 29th -Apr. 5th Spring Break NO SCHOOL Apr. 6th Classes Resume Remember to dress for the weather.  We go outside every day for recess, lunch recess and gym. This week in ELA we finished planning our fictional stories and started the writing process. We learned how to introduce our characters and setting within the first few sentences and then introduce our problem next.  Next week we will learn how to add interesting details to stretch out the events in our story. This week in Math we reviewed different strategies such as "Rob 1 to make a ten" when adding 9.   Reminders: LIbrary Books:  If your child has library books at home from last year, please send them in as we would love to have them back on our bookshelves and in our classrooms. September 28th: Terry Fox Run during gym September 30th:  Orange Shirt Day - wear an orange shirt or something orange to honour those who were in residential schools and to affirm that every child matters October 1st  is our first Spirit Day.  The students have chosen Pajama Day.  Students may wear a clean pair of pjs, but we ask that stuffies and toys stay at home.
